I wonder if so many of us (not me) were in favor of the war because we really haven't experienced it in our own country since the Civil War. Aside from Pearl Harbor and 9/11, most of us have not experienced firsthand the devestation which comes with war.

Good question. Which way does the psychology work? The "logical" argument is if we knew first hand the horrors of war, we wouldn't have one. More often than not, it seems to work the other way...get even, an eye for an eye, etc...

Targetting civilian populations is intended to break the will of the people in the target country. It just doesn't seem to work that way.
