The rightwing media is very organized and yes, there was a concerted effort to build a rightwing media throughout the 90's. To call it a "conspiracy" makes light of the fact that it's a serious attack on the truth in American media. People like Hanity, Limbaugh and Coulter give scant attention to facts, truth-telling or fairness. They are political attack dogs of an extreme nature. They will hide, spin, twist or outright lie about anything to serve their propaganda needs. No matter who runs against Bush they'd be slandering and libeling the person, even if it was Jesus Christ in a helmet. The worst part is that per one poll 30% of all Republicans get their "news" from rightwing talk, and it's not news, it's pure spin. Therefore you have a third of the GOP voters basically brainwashed and believing in a pack of organized lies.
