Total BS, MPH. Kerry's war protests HURT his political career and it was something he had to live down for a long time. Maybe they got him noticed in the first place, but if he had only cared about himself he would have acted as more of a moderate force. That said, his was ambtious as if ever great leader in our country. If you're not ambitious you don't get to the top. Period. Even GW was ambtious though not until later in his life. He would never have been elected dog-catcher without his father's help and name.
