One of my best friends did 3 years in Nam and told me PLATOON was very accurate. Oliver Stone was also there and he wrote it as an autobiography. My friend told me tears were running down his cheeks during PLATOON. he was grateful as hell to Stone for making it. Finally the true Vietnam picture. Anyone who says PLATOON isn't realistic is just covering up the truth as all Bushies seem to do full-time. Most vets loved PLATOON.

Also PLATOON was very accurate in symbolizing the two sides of the American psyche, the enlightened warrior Elias who believed in the human spirit but was a great soldier vs. the cold stone rightwing killer who hated everyone but was also a great soldier. The pot-smokers versus the boozers. The rock n' rollers versus the C+W lovers.
