I find a candid reference to the necessity for a draft to be a refreshingly honest comment on where the nation is today.

As far as "interests" are concerned, I see a huge dichotomy between the special interests of American corporate honchos and that of the nation as a whole. I wince every time I hear people talk about "national interests" because almost invariably, they are referring to the former at the expense of the later.
