Do you think that the Syrians set these folks up to look like they were attacking Syrian properties, so it would look like Syria was a "victim" of A-Q?????

If I had to guess, I would guess that this was an Al Qaeda operation as reported. Syria officially harbors Hamas and Hizbullah, but I don't think relations to Al Qaeda are, or were, clear. My guess is that Al Qaeda just bit the hand that fed them, in Damascus as in Riyadh.
