Terrific post. I have never been anywhere near the situations that you describe, and as I guess is the case with many of the most vocal hardliners on this thread, but I have arrived at pretty much the same conclusions and apparently share your "weltanshang" (sp?). However, I have arrived at it from a very different angle. I just can't believe so many people on this thread have such different views. I am beginning to see that it is the fault of the Liberals - especially those at our finest universities and colleges. At the end of the sixties, the movement to stop teaching Western Civilization or to end teaching from a Western Civilization perspective is the cause of all our ills today. What I see is this tremendous backlash. The backlash comes from those frustrated because they feel we have a superior culture and are prevented from expressing those feelings. So instead of being able to discuss the subject openly, we now have a generation that do not really understand Western Culture. What makes it great and what makes it prevail. Instead they believe there is a culture war and since we are superior militarily we should prevail by all means. These people don't really understand what makes us great. It is exactly opposite to what they are advocating. They want us to become like our enemies. The only way they think that we can chnage their minds is if we can kill enough of them and the rest will fall in line. But that is exactly what the stupidest of our enemies believe - that if they kill enough of us, we would change our minds. I believe we have a superior culture and the way to prevail is by example. To kill them before they kill us is not part of our culture - at least not until now - when our culture is being debased.
