Still does. There is no excuse for some of the talk around here, on this and on the George W. Bush thread topic. In a republic, we elect leaders to act for us. We should let them act, not torpedo every move they make, every word they say. Election time is the appropriate time to recall unsatisfactory politicians.

The old motto, "Loose Lips Sink Ships" had true meaning

Hi Sig; Re: "If we had known in WW2 ..."

You're trying to compare a total war to an "optional" war. Hey, if the war on Terror was a total war, you'd be making a lot of sense.

But look around you. This country is grinding on with almost no change from before the 911 attacks. Our young men are not being drafted. We're not losing 30 ships per week in the Atlantic. We're not taking 90% casualties in the submarine service. We haven't lost 20,000 soldiers capturing a tiny island in the Pacific. Our aviators have average life spans far longer than 3 days. In short, this is not a total war.

Save your comments on "morale and confidence" for a time when it matters. Right now, Bush appears to be running on a campaign claim to have fixed the economy, not to be running the war efficiently.

Re: "We have been told of the seriousness of this war, but there are still plenty of non-believers."

Yes, you're a "believer", LOL.

Re: "Trains are being blown up in Spain, in France, 20 tons of explosives are found in Turkey, or 5 truck loads in SA, or plans for further destruction in Spain found in the terrorists belongings."

Is this really the best you can come up with??? After talking about aviators with 3 day life expectancies and 30 cargo ships being sunk per week you now admit that all that's going on is 20 tons of explosives in an obscure and unimportant country like Turkey? Do you even know how much explosives is carried by a single B-52 bomber? And why should we care what happens in Saudi Arabia?

You're doing a bad job of making a mountain out of a molehill.
