On those (frequent) occasions when people whip themselves into a frenzy of "inflation, inflation, inflation" (usually right at the time when prices are collapsing) (like right now, for example ...)

and, therefore run the yields up on U.S. Dollar denominated securities

(for example -- one can now receive a 3.56% yield on U.S. Treasury 5-year notes, up from 2.62% just a short while ago)

then, there is only one logical direction for the U.S. Dollar :

It will (of course) go up.
