This unspoken rule.......that representatives i.e., Senators, Governors, Congressmen ect...don't talk in a manner that disparage or dishonors American policy abroad to foreign sources during wartime only applies to foreign sources, and more than likely does predate the Internet and cable TV.

The harm I perceive is that her statement could embolden terrorists within the ME...... more than they already are.....to travel to Iraq and try to kill our soldiers.

It is not only that she is a powerful American Senator, but that she certainly will be running for the office of the president in 2008. Was she trying to expand upon her limited foreign affairs resume' in preparation for that event? Or does she prescribe to what is becoming more apparent with every passing day that democrats believe that the UN should be making these kinds of decisions for the American people? I don't know. But her doing so only serves to cast doubt on American resolve, is harmful to that cause, is dangerous to the men and women serving in our military, and does a wonderful job of further dividing our people.

I said that this unspoken rule, that our government officials may or may not all be aware, was mentioned by someone else. That someone else was Charles Krauthammer.

I must admit that I admire Krauthammer's writing immensely, and I do take it for granted that he knows that of which he speaks.

Here's a quick little bio of his achievements.
