Why don't you read the Chevron-Texaco report on LNG you have provided a link to. Perhaps you didn't understand it fully. It clearly spells out all of the dangers, albeit with soothing language.

netl.doe.gov

Page 23 titled "Dispersion Model Results" shows the spread of a 5 meter leak on a single 25,000 cubic meter cell of an LNG tanker. The "Distance to Lower Flammability Limit" is 2.5 miles from the leak.

To calculate the area involved you take the radius squared times 3.14159. The radius being 2.5 miles, the total area made flammable by a leak from a single cell is:

2.5 x 2.5 x 3.14159 = 19.6 square miles or roughly 20 sq miles

mathgoodies.com

If you are unlucky and there is any source of ignition within that 20 sq mile area, the flame will spread to the entire area in a time slightly exceeding 20 seconds (see page 18 of the report). Page 27 titled "Estimated Burn Times" indicates a burn time of 37 minutes. Everything within the 20 square mile area will be vaporized.

This does not concern you as you are conceited enough to know that an accident will never happen, many accidents have occurred on the main LNG trunk-line from Canada. Fortunately the total volume of the pipeline between automatic shutoff valves is a tiny fraction of the LNG contained within a single LNG tanker cell.

The bullshit artist Alan Greenspan has been promoting the LNG tanker concept in recent days. If you liked his irresponsible monetary bubbles, you'll just love his ideas for LNG ports in populated areas.
