Or find a workaround. For purposes of banning people from threads, the way I do it on iHub will work perfectly. You don't type in their name. You hit a link by one of their posts.

The problem with duplicate aliases, and so many aliases being "taken" by accounts that've never used the site is one of my motivations for trimming down the user file, which probably won't get done until after the move to the new setup.
