Years ago one of my partners was preparing to defend a product liability action in Federal Court that I had worked up. At the time, the plaintiff's lawyer had not yet made a name for himself, but was quite the arrogant, pushy type. My partner commented to me that "Mr. --- doesn't have the humility to win this case." He turned out to be right. I never forgot the comment, although, at the time, I wasn't entirely sure what he meant. Kerry strikes me the same way. There is a condescending arrogance about the man, which surfaces frequently enough to derail his efforts at putting forth a message. Unless he can find some humility within himself, he will surely lose.
