I don't follow the RNC site so I don't know when
it was discussed there.

I became aware of the flap when I saw references to
the GMA interview and Kerry's behavior during it.

As far as I know, that was the first time Kerry
himself joined the fray over the "AWOL" claim.

I think we agree that it served him badly.

I think I read somewhere that Kerry told
his advisers that he thought GMA had been
prompted by the opposition, but I've seen nothing
to support that.

Somehow, I can't picture Carl Rove calling
Charlie Gibson for that purpose<g>

I think Gibson himself had a rather personal slant
on the whole thing because he was evidently there when
Kerry threw the "medals." Gibson maintained that he
saw Kerry throw medals and Kerry said he was wrong.
I imagine that did not sit well with Charlie<g>
