Condor, Thanks for the headsup. I am done. Returning to HK tomorrow.

I hung out at the administration building of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, spending time conversing with folks from Academy and folks from the Peking Union Medical College.

The lead on the other side of the table is a gentleman who is the Vice President, M.D., and professor of immunology.

One of the folks we were supposed to meet is in quarantine and so we did not get the pleasure of meeting.

I begged off on the dinner and the P3 (security rating) laboratory visitation. Two scientists I was with visited the P3, and visited an animal laboratory of some sort.

The conversation is for a viral imaging cooperation. The folks we were holding discussions with were quite high ranked, seemed quite busy, and were very matter of fact.

I washed hands diligently.

Wrong place, wrong time, wrong subject, wrong people. Plain fcuking stoopeeed.

I will spend a few days in friend's unoccupied apartment before returning to own home.

I am now putting in a call to track down the location/name of the lab the folks visited. Should know in a bit.

Chugs, Jay

Hello Condor,@ƒƒChina Warns Foreign Lab Visitors of SARS Risk„„

(a) The news is apparently old news just caught by Reuters;

(b) The folks I was accompanying did not go anywhere near the lab in question;

(c) The professor (Wang) who gave our meeting a miss due to quarantine is the boss of the lady lab worker who is case #1 this round;

(d) The current SARS episode is a lab accident;

(e) I am glad my meeting did not take place a few weeks earlier; and

(f) A bunch of years ago, in the year (94, or 95, or 96) China lost a bunch of commercial planes to accidents, I was on 3 planes that then went down within 6 months after I got off c I do not know what I am trying to say or am thinking, I just thought Ifd mention the episode.

Chugs, Jay
