Uh cnyndwllr... The major part of the problem with being able to believe that Saddam had eliminated all of his WMDs was his FIRM UNWILLINGNESS to permit UNSCOM or UNMOVIC inspectors to speak with that "people trail" (scientists, engineers.. etc).

And considering that apparently he was paying off many of them to surreptiously continue their WMD R&D, is it any wonder he didn't want us talking to them??
