Now that I have read the transcript, I don't take huge exception to how Kerry responded, especially since the White House had weighed in on the subject through Karen Hughes.

That said he could have done a better job of responding by keeping it simple. By stating the truth and a short reminder of where the attacks were coming from, then immediately he should have changed the subject to his agenda...jobs, healthcare, economy...war in Iraq.
