Yes and no.

There are two main reasons:

1. As you said, the location that'll eventually have search is currently populated by ads.

Only premium members will have access to most of the search options. They'll be able to look up subjects and that's about it. But the Dev version doesn't currently recognize differences in statuses.

2. The current search is written in ASP and I haven't rewritten it in ASPX yet. If you use it on the homepage, you're suddenly in the ASP version of the site, which hasn't seen any development in weeks and won't. I have to rewrite it in ASPX before redeploying it.
