His credibility may be slipping with you, but he's earned it the hard way; his kid was over there fighting. He knows more about what's going on than we do.

WR, while he should be proud to be the parent of someone who has fought in Iraq, it doesn't logically follow that that person's opinions about Bush etc. are any more valid than anyone else's.

Think of it this way: there are quite likely many more parents of engaged military people who are pro Bush and very positive about our involvement in Iraq. Does that mean you or I should bow to their opinions?

I'd hope you'd think not.

My view of sylvester-- and any other extremist who couches his opinion as truth and uses personal invective instead of rational discussion-- stands.

It might well be that I'm too moderate for this thread. In that case I'll look elsewhere for a place to talk about current political events.
