I don't think we can really complain when the retaliation comes.

I can predict the Administration response... a few insurgents [or foreign fighters]; the silent majority supports the US.

I expect that the US will be out of Iraq in 2005. Regardless of who is elected President. Bush won't withdraw while there is an interim sovereign [without authority] government. Pulling out before November would guarantee he would lose the election.

Assuming there are Iraqi elections in Jan 2005 you can be certain that the candidates will be running on a "Get the US out" platform. That will be the excuse the US will take to get out of Iraq and claim victory.
