A Special Forces soldier in Afghanistan requested soccer equipment for a village team: "They compete regionally but have no equipment save a couple of soccer balls." The team's equipment will soon be shipped.

The 100th US Army Special Forces Association Chapter was recently established in Kandahar. The first new overseas chapter since the Saigon chapter was established in 69.

I donated to the Spirit of America fundraiser because I won a case and always donate after I win a case. I saw a write-up in a blog that was linked to the website and was pleased by what I read. But if I hadn't stumbled across that link, the money would have gone elsewhere.

How many Americans read blogs? They need to do a better job of getting the word out.

I think this may be an untapped potential. Public sector solicitation of private party donations for Iraqi reconstruction projects could bring in quite a bit of money if widely publicized. Given a good cause, Americans give out the wazzoo, especially if it is a concretely defined project like "rebuild TV stations." I find people are more willing to donate if they know exactly what their money is going for.
