Do you also see the reason why Iraqi's would rather die fighting the midnight gestapo raids than be willingly taken to prison by the occupation force

Like American or Iraqi prisoners receive better treatment at the hands of the terrorists?

You sure do seem to like complaining about the abuses of a few Americans (who are going to be prosecuted). But I haven't seen you say a damn thing about the car bombings, using civilians as human shields, or hanging out in Mosques.. ALL of which are COMMON practices of the people you seem to prefer rule in Iraq.

What about those 16 kids who were roasted alive down in Basra in that school bus?? Where were your tears of outrage then??

And maybe after you've seen how these terrorists have abused the human rights of other Iraqis, and violated almost every tenet of "civilized" warfare, these Americans apparently felt their prisoners didn't deserve to be treated respectfully.. After all, these are the very people who had no qualms about violating the rights of their fellow Iraqis, so why should they be treated with respect..

I'm certainly not saying its right to mistreat these prisoners.. But I can certainly understand how these MPs apparently believed that their "charges" were guilty of far worse behavior.

That's the biggest problem with many of the Arabs in the region.. They spend all day DENYING OR EXCUSING the abuses of Saddam's regime, but let even one American lose his cool and violate the rules of war, and suddenly the entire military is responsible..

You really need to get a grip on your anti-American feelings... And if you can't think rationally, then maybe you should find a country more amenable to your view points (like France?)

Hi Sarmad Y. Hermiz; Re: "I'm glad you find them disgusting. Do you also see the reason why Iraqi's would rather die fighting the midnight gestapo raids than be willingly taken to prison by the occupation force."

I see that Hawkmoon didn't answer your question. I wouldn't expect him to.

In previous wars, I don't think that US soldiers did this sort of thing to force prisoners to talk. Killing prisoners in front of other prisoners is the traditional method, followed by a mock execution of the one you want to talk.

It seems that the war in Iraq is getting a bit out of control. According to Hawkmoon, both sides are committing fouls. Maybe it's time for the referees to call the game and send the players home.

Hawkmoon's explanation for the bad behavior of US troops seems to be that since the Iraqis violate the Geneva Convention, US troops should do it too. But at the same time, he condemns the violation by US troops. So I'm not sure what he's getting at.

Like I said before the war, if we wanted to have a war where both sides obey the Geneva Convention, then we should invade Canada, or maybe even France or Germany.
