Despite his wealth, Kerry still sticks up for the common man. Kerry's wealth makes his voting record more impressive, not less.

Bush is from the #1 most elite family in the US, and always sides with the rich elite in terms of economic issues. Kerry is also from an elite background (without the powerful father or family money though) and worked his way up the hard way, starting with combat. Kerry defends the rights and interests of average Americans, veterans and small businessmen, Bush the elite corporate CEO class. Bush the polluters, Kerry the environment.

"I can't believe my family left Africa and came to this country," she griped to the New York Post's Cindy Adams two weeks ago. "I can't believe I ever even married an American."

Plenty of Americans have a similar feeling about their country. The ones like this I see on SI are all voting for Kerry.
