But, basically, still self-interest, no matter what the verbiage. Actions count, words do not.

By the same token this self-interested country generously donates money, medicine, supplies, aid of all kinds to less fortunate countries. Why? Who cares? The result is the same - help for those in need - which is far more than any other country does.

I take issue with giving to those countries who complain about us.

Good post. Admitting it ain't gonna make me any friends here. But what you are saying is true. If only people understood that being American requires us to make a stand, even when it ain't popular.
