Hi Ray,

<<< From the Rapture, to the destruction of the ozone layer, George Bush seems hellbent on destroying the planet as quickly as possible to satisfy a delusional prediction that is two millenia old and growing more hysterical every day.>>>

There is a very good chance that George Bush will be re-elected. Here is my best case scenario:

George Bush is not the person that his handlers think he is. He is not a devout Christian. He is not a true Conservative. He really is the fun loving, devil may care, fraternity brother who is always on the look out for a good prank. He is not very studious. He will let others do his work for him. He loves the trappings of power. Air Force One, the Marine Heliocopter, and the marching bands.

In his second term, he will not need Cheney and Rove to hold his hand. Laurel Bush, Karen Hughes, and Condi Rice will see this opening and will start asserting their own agenda.

As George Bush becomes kinder and gentler, his ratings will go sky high. His real roots (Andover, Yale, Harvard) will surface. I can't believe that a person can pass through those institutions and not have their values rub off - even if he never cracked a book.

I was hoping it was going to turn out this way after his first election, but I was wrong. I still think, however, that he is not the person the extreme right wing thinks he is. I am still holding out for a better outcome. Hope springs eternal. In many ways April is the cruelest month.
