However, the only ones in this world truly shocked are Americans......and that's not all of us. Many could care less. You've noticed that there has been little comment from neocon quarters. They probably think its a good thing. Like I've said before, rumors of these tortures have been a around for a while.........an Aussie friend told me he was hearing of such rumors from a friend in the Aussie army at least two months ago. I had hoped they were not true. The rest of the world is not surprised.....just us. They couldn't be more insulting to the Arab male. No argument there.......it would have been better to cut off their fingers or to beat them. It makes me sick that they decided to make it sexual. One of the US taboos is what wars do to unprepared, sheltered American kids. Kerry talked about it wrt Vietnam, and has been vilified by the right ever since. We are pampered, and frankly a percentage of us don't deal well with the killing and devaluation of human life. We also don't value foreign life very much and we constantly fight with xenophobia. Look how a segment of American society has vilified the French and the Germans because they don't agree with us re. Iraq. Rumsfeld, the butthead, outdid himself with his abuse. This is huge. Those photo's are recruiting posters for every terrorist group. This whole war is a massive recruitment drive for them. Bush doesn't care........the neocons and their supporters like DR and Ten don't care. Stupid is as stupid does! ted
