Stack was a member of the 5th Special Forces Group when he was KIA. The 5th was founded in 1961. I joined them in B Co in 1962 and 63 and C Co in 68-69. Stack was in C Co when he died. The 5th is the Group that became the resident group in Nam. Originally based at Ft Bragg, NC, they were relocated there again after Nam. In the late 80s (86 or 87), after I retired, they moved to FT Campbell, KY. Stack served in the 3rd, 5th and 10th Special Forces Groups...as did I.
