Kerry is leading amongst swingvoters and independents. What you may mean by "traditional patriotic" Americans are extreme rightwingers who will vote for the rightwing candidate always no matter what. Those voters only matter in terms of turn-out for Cheney-Bush.

Since I'm a centrist, I can tell you, liberals we know will vote Kerry in huge numbers (though we have to convince Nader to drop out) but centrists are moving en masse in Kerry's direction and that's very good news.
I mean centrists from all parties.

The GOP moderates may decide the election by swinging to Kerry. Many GOP friensds of mine cannot stand Bush. Since I know so many, there must be a lot more out there.

Expect Kerry to pick a moderate-conservative running mate. Maybe even a Republican. Also, not a single Kerry policy is what you'd call liberal. Unless of course you don't believe women should have rights over their reproductive systems. But most people do.

Pennsylvania will go Kerry for sure. Just like it went for Gore but even more so. What Bush needs to worry about is Ohio.
