Hi longnshort; Re: "Oh yeah they won. LOLOLOLOLOL"

It is human nature to call a war a victory if you survive it, LOL. Nor are we immune to it.

Our nation met none of its objectives in the war of 1812, another stupid "optional" war, and by the end of it we we had failed to conquer Canada on land, and were completely bottled up at sea. Yet at the end of the war, it was popularly felt to be a great victory. When I was in school it was taught to me as a victory, and Vietnam was widely commented upon as our first "loss" in war. From the Army.Mil official US military website:

...
The news of the peace settlement followed so closely on Jackson's triumph in New Orleans that the war as a whole was popularly regarded in the United States as a great victory. Yet at best it was a draw. American strategy had centered on the conquest of Canada and the harassment of British shipping; but the land campaign failed, and during most of the war the Navy was bottled up behind a tight British blockade of the North American coast.

When you're the little guy (or a guerilla), just surviving is a victory. But more importantly, humans believe pretty much whatever they want to believe.
