Hi cnyndwllr; Re the "follow the leader" gene. You point out another part of it, which is that people tend to trust people like themselves. This means that when you get a large enough percentage of identical know-it-alls into one room they drown out everyone else.

It's tough being a leader, because the people who report to you tend to tell you what you want to hear rather than the truth. Not an easy problem to solve. The business or military leader (of whatever position or rank) who manages to crack that one is always well admired by his subordinates.
