Sure they did. Especially those who pushed for impeachment and for the Paula Jones suit to proceed during his term in office. This doesn't excuse Clinton for his irresponsibility though.

Even if the Monica affair had been hushed up, he could have been blackmailed and compromised over it. In fact, we don't know this didn't happen over another unknown "Monica" figure.

For all we know, something like this could explain his turn to the right - normally attributed to political calculations after the Republicans got the House in '94.

A President's extramarital sex life isn't just a private matter. Suppose a foreign government got an intern into the WH willing to fulfill Monica's role and smuggle in a miniature camera or recorder to record it for the use of said foreign gov't.
