Bush is out of control. I think Powell needs to reign Bush in. Powell is one of the few with good sense.

Reign Bush in? Powell has very little authority in this administration........rumor has it he's on his way out. Bush is firmly in the hands of the neocons like Rumsfeld and Cheney.

Amy,

re: Panel Seeks Steps for Cuba Regime Change

It's political. Both Bush and Kerry will be falling all over themselves trying to get the South Florida Cuban vote, which is currently ~30% undecided. If one or the other guy can get that block, then (probably) they get Florida.

I would like to see them do away the electoral college system. It seems to lead to pandering to small special interest groups, and also increase the pork to large states vs. smaller states. It would eliminate the election debacle of 2000, except in the unlikely event of a tie in the popular vote.

Is being "tough" on Castro in our national best interests? Maybe, maybe not. But no Presidential candidate is going to cross the Miami Cubans.
