Among Mr. Brock's donors is . . . . James C. Hormel, a San Francisco philanthropist whose appointment as ambassador to Luxembourg was delayed for a year and a half in the late 1990's by conservative lawmakers protesting what they called his promotion of a "gay lifestyle."

I don't suppose it's unintentional that the NYT drops that little tidbit of gossip.

Brock's sexual orientation does cast some rather bizarre light on his two claims to fame, savaging Anita Hill, and publicizing Bill Clinton's sexual adventures in Arkansas, and it rendered rather bizarre his expressed reasons for switching from right to left.

In other words, sex, of one kind or another, has played a big role in Brock's political life heretofore. And I don't mean "sex" as a private expression between two individuals, of whatever gender.
