Ted, Disingenuous? I wonder what it takes for you to recognize when a disaster is a disaster.

I'm saying you're being disingenuous because you are pretending you and the other anti-war activists could have done more to oppose this war.

It may be wishful thinking but if Americans had made the kind of stand that the Brits made before the war, Bush might have been forced to think twice about attacking Iraq.

In any case, you can continue to blame Bush for everything, and maybe even get Kerry elected (if you can muzzle that guy), but in the end all of your efforts won't make one damn difference. Politicians will always suffer from the "do something" mentality, combined with "cover your ass" if things go wrong.

That's a copout.........Bush did this all on his own [with the help of his cohorts]. They are solely responsible for this disaster. Attacking Iraq was not necessary. The blood is on their hands.

The terrorists will continue to hate us for reasons you won't acknowledge, and the "world" will continue to blame America for everything, at least until America is no longer the sole superpower.

And still you wonder why.........when will you make the connection between our behavior in the world and the world's reaction to us?

By the way, don't believe for a second that I am in denial. This mess is a lot bigger than what most of the supporters have predicted.

Tell me about it........and yet there were many who said it would be like this and they were ignored or called fools......or worse, liars. Do you think such hubris and mendacity should go unpunished?

I have always said we should involve the U.N., make amends, swallow our pride, and get this situation resolved ASAP.

Not strongly...........and that is my point from the first paragraph.

But just because I don't buy into the "Hate Bush" rhetoric doesn't mean I must be a neocon supporter. Once again, that's just the liberal version of "You are either for us or you are against us."

There comes a time when you do have to choose. Supporting Bush is not business as usual..........he has taken the presidency and this nation to places not previously visited. I do not say lightly that I believe our democracy is in danger. I do not say lightly that I think Bush is a danger to our republic. This nation for which it stands is not indivisible as the pledge would have us believe. It is divisible.......and very vulnerable right now.

This time I think we do have to choose.........a lot hangs in the balance. I not enamored with Kerry but I believe he believes more firmly in the founding principles of this nation than does Bush and his cohorts.
