GEORGE ORWELL WOULD BE PROUD!

Taikun,

You are, of course, familiar with the concept of doublethink.

If not, Google can help you with your assignment to become an informed citizen.

The list that you provided, "Hot Investment Chat", is the new "improved" version of reality that SI's management is creating. It looks to be a technological success over the course of time.

The threads that I shared with you are part of the old, trusted and venerable "old" SI system.

So, what we have is two totally different versions of reality.

One calls itself "Hot Subjects"
siliconinvestor.com

And the other calls itself "Hot Investment Chat"

What you'll notice that is so Orwellian about this is that in the new iteration of SI, we won't be directed to "Hot Subjects" which are being subjected to a ghettoization process. Much like the villages in the Sunni triangle are being surrounded by concertina wire and cut off from the rest of the world, the political chattering class at SI is being relegated to its own ghetto which will be all but invisible to any newcomers to the thread.

But this isn't just an unfortunate phenomenon at SI. I've lately been having a major dispute with the administrator my local Kerry For President website.

He's doing exactly the same thing. Taking controversial topics, and ramming them into a rabbit hole from which they will never, ever be resuscitated. This is, of course, a perfect way to kill democracy. No doubt about it. But that is what corporate killers are doing to democracy, so we might as well get used to it.

Frankly, I'm beginning to think these people have a much better idea of what we ought to be doing with our odious, despicable and anti-democratic corporations:

Of course, I'm a geezer, so I'll just whinge about this and tell everyone to read excellent primers on corporate sleaziness like this great book from Thom Hartmann:

But I digress. As well as resist.
