Ansar Al Islam operated in Northern Iraq with the blessing and support of Saddam Hussein. The Kurds and US Special Forces attacked them at the beginning of the war against Saddam Hussein in 2003, and managed to kill or expel a lot of them.

Thanks for the NATO info, JJ. Turkey foils 'NATO bomb plot' Looks like this plot by Ansar Al Islam is being tightly guarded...but tonight's info says they have arrested 9 so far...
