"spin" does not openness make. the purpose of spin is to persuade, confuse, lie, cheat, deny, blah, blah, blah...

i am aware that the american press will not change. the american people have yet to give them the incentive. apparently, we either like the bs or don't recognize it when it appears in front of us.

You are assuming that all directions of spin are equally represented over all the media outlets. This is not so.

Furthermore, you are assuming that the press gathers facts, then tries to report them. Not so. They approach an event with a story already in their minds, and look for facts which will flesh it out. Much less work. And if the story is the same as the guys on the NYT and WaPo are telling, very safe too, you can't get fired for it. This leads to massive herd journalism.
