I always think about "country" in the abstract sense of the idealism that is expressed by our Constitution and Bill of Rights.

To say that I like, or can even tolerate the sort of person who thought we were justified to invade Iraq would be incorrect. I surely don't love most of the people in the U.S. who are either too blind, too craven or too apathetic to be part of a decent body politic.

Interesting idea, Redfish: Court-martial the commander-in-chief. What is the legal status? Does he go back into active-duty once he becomes president?
