The GOP is promoting Kerry's Vietnam record for him. Excellent!

One thing the Americans do not stand for is running down someone's service to this country. Dodging the war is bad. signing up in the Guards and not reporting is worse, but going to war and winning awards for meritorius service is something the American peole like. And it would be political suicide for someone to take that on and to persist for so long even in the face of not coming up with soemthing very tangible.

The other day Sean Hannity had a Vietnam veteran as his guest. He was no big fancy, just a common person, had a little stutter. He was polite and soft spoken. Sang Kerry's praise and said he fought shoulder to shoulder with Kerry. THis guy probably of his speech defect was a little slow in speaking. But Hannity would have nothing of that. He kept interrupting this guy and came across as very rude an incosiderate of his handicap. This guy on the other hand kept referring to Hannity as Sir, all the time.

So there is a lot of self destruction going on over here lately.

Every time Bushies bring up Vietnam we can compare GW Bush in 1972 to John Kerry in 1970 and ask ourselves, who is a better American, an AWOL draft-dodger who lied about it, or a Silver Star combat hero who fought hard and won his battles there, then came home to fight hard to end the war which was, by then, an out of control mess. Add in 5-time draft-dodgers Cheney and Delay and the comparison is even more striking.
