Bush will put the country through all kinds of humiliation just to avoid the 1000 troops killed mark before the elections. Ironically, this exposes our troops to all kinds of danger and Bush might "achieve" the 1000 mark even sooner than he would have otherwise. But he doesn't care one way or the other, as long as he can get elected in November.... By kowtowing to this ex Saddamite general, he is putting our troops in great danger and hurting their morale. He is also encouraging other Iraqis to rebel. Its a mess that keeps getting worse.
