I've previously posted this on the Residential Real Estate Crash board, but I recently read a book "The Boom of the Eighties - in Southern California" published in 1950.

This book provides a comprehensive view of the boom in real estate prices in the 1880's and the subsequent 90% decline in prices by 1890. People and real estate price bubbles don't change, only the dates.
