But I have to ask again, why did so many of us gleefully and unquestioningly accept the change of heart of the "singing bird" prisoners, chuckle about the option of sending them to Egypt or Jordan where they "know how to make them talk," and then suddenly become righteous about how Americans values don't lend themselves to the torture of prisoners? To state the obvious: Your question has no answer that people who "chuckle" about such things want to give.
