The good folks at Fallugha wanted Iraqis in charge and they got one.

Are they? There was pretty much a "who's in charge" chaos on Sunday. A US General made one claim, a marine spokesman made another. The Marines had withdrawn by one account, the Marines had not withdrawn by another account. An Iraqi was in charge; no he wasn't; but the Marine spokesman didn't know whether he would give up the command...he didn't have. The Iraqi contingent was up to 600; doubled from the previous day; but the Marines didn't know exactly where they were. The few that were found by the news media didn't have any uniforms or equipment.

Then the residents [or insurgents] of Fallujah were celebrating that they had won. Their objective being to keep US Forces out of Fallujah.

Then there was our objectives. It was at first to capture the guilty parties of the killing of the 4 contractors; then it became get them and disarm the insurgents of their heavy weapons. Then the Iraqis were supposed to be in charge of making it peaceful in Falluja when the arrived. Forget the 1st two objectives. The last I heard was that the Iraqis were still supposed to do objectives one and two, maybe. But then the Iraqi General said that there were no foreign fighters in the city. [I didn't know that we were looking for foreign fighters until I read there weren't any.] But after he said that, he was demoted from a command position that he didn't have. And we said that in spite of what he said there were foreign fighters in Falluja.

I didn't see anything on Monday either.
