Do I become a vigilante to save one child, when to do so damages the fabric of society and hurts everyone? No, I do not resort to becoming a vigilante, because vigilantes are a bit too much like the gangs which were the problem in the first place. I am not willing to become what I wish to fight, in order to fight it more effectively. That is a weakness in those of us who want democracy to spread in a humane and democratic way- but there is no way around it. I am afraid if you want to be the good guy, you are limited by being the good guy. If you are willing to be bad, then you will certainly have more options, but you won't get to think of your self as the good guy anymore.
