I wasn't disagreeing, Goldworld.

Highly uncommon for ANY American politician (especially one who has been around a while) to maintain 60+ positive rating from the general public....

Another, possibly more informative figure to know is: how polarized are the reactions to the politician, (how intense are the views, whether pro or con... another way of saying it is how far off of 'neutral' in the middle of the scale are people's views grouped?)

For example, if you are viewed 55/45 positive/negative... but most of the views are not intensely held (ie, 'wishy-washy'), then it's more possible to move people's opinions.

But, if that same 55/45 is mostly intensely held views, then it's less likely the views can be changed.

Hillary Clinton is widely reported to have 'high negatives', for example... but is viewed positively by majorities in her State.
