How can you defend Kerry's statement re his congressional testimony? Excerpt from The Dallas Morning News:

>>Mr. Kerry has backed off his atrocities charges, saying that there were some war crimes but that the language he used "was a little bit excessive ... I don't like it when I hear it today."<<

AC: What will Kerry say a few yrs from now about many of his outrageous remarks on this yr's campaign trail?...probably "I don't like it when I hear it today."

AC:The following excerpt from that article made me realize that John O'Neill and I share the viewpoint that the Dems missed the opportunity to easily win the Nov election by choosing the worst possible candidate:

>>Mr. O'Neill denies trying to help Mr. Bush. His longtime friend Gerry Birnberg, the Harris County Democratic Party chairman, said it's possible that anger about Mr. Kerry's anti-war stance 30 years ago is Mr. O'Neill's main motivation.

"He is basically a conservative Republican, but not invariably," said Mr. Birnberg, also a lawyer. "Before Kerry surfaced as front-runner, he was dissatisfied with several of the Bush administration's actions and policies... Bush is not his favorite president."

Said Mr. O'Neill: "The hope of all of us is that the Democratic Party will nominate somebody else so that all the people in the country will have a genuine choice. ... All we can do is put out the truth. It may be naive, but that's all we can do."<<

AC: John O'Neill is a straight-arrow American. No matter how hard you try, you will not succeed in convincing anyone that he's just a partisan mud-slinger. He is outraged by Kerry's libelous testimony about all Vietnam vets & believes (as do I) that John Kerry thereby is not qualified to be Pres of USA.
