Hi shadowman,

Thanks for the reply, but I am not sure this problem is the same. With the PC in question, there seems to be no how, no way to connect to www.symantec.com. It is as if one of the viruses has sabotaged the PCs ability to reach Symantec to fix the problem.

I eventually did a manual download of the newest virus definitions on my laptop and then transferred this file to the PC. Then I could do a current NAV scan and managed to knock out some more viruses. This PC is at a location where there is no router, so the next thing going in is a router/firewall.

The comments about LiveUpdate are interesting though, as it seems Symantec products are taking a turn downhill lately.
