While all of that is true you need to apply for your purple heart. Most folks didn't apply unless they were truly wounded. Weasels applied for band aid wounds. Just had a guy in town here receive his purple heart. Saw all of the stuff about Kerry and decided maybe he should apply. 3 bullet wounds and shrapnel from landing on Omaha beach. Received treatment in the field and kept fighting until relieved on the 3rd day. After 2 weeks in a field hospital he rejoined his division and fought until the end of the war. Said he never applied because it didn't seem important to him until he saw all of the hoopla over Kerry's 3 wounds.
