Nobody has to accuse him of war crimes when he admits to committing them.

Kerry did not admit to committing any war crime. What he said was:

"I committed the same kind of atrocities as thousands of other soldiers have committed in that I took part in shootings in free-fire zones. I conducted harassment and interdiction fire. I used 50-caliber machine guns which we were granted and ordered to use, which were our only weapon against people. I took part in search-and-destroy missions, in the burning of villages."

He further says that he did these acts under orders.

I'm not sure how to classify a war crime. I find it a little disingenuous to have rules for killing in a war zone.

That is exactly my point. Congratulations for "getting it". And if you're in the thick of battle with your heart rate up and your ears ringing from ordinance are you going to crack open your vest pocket edition of the Geneva Convention rules of engagement?

So in that respect I don't believe Kerry was a war criminal.

We are in agreement on that. Kerry served his country bravely and with distinction. I'm not going to agree with AS that he was one of the wars greatest heros...because he was not.

He did serve with honor, and he is not a war criminal.

I wont waste a day discussing it but if Kerry wants to play the war hero saint game he better be ready to pony up some answers.

You have been reading too many of AS's posts on the subject. I don't think that Kerry considers himself a war hero. I do think that he is proud of his service to his country, and I do think that he is proud of his efforts in helping the US to end a war, a war that even the architects have now admitted was a mistake.
