No Neocon, I start out with a skeptical attitude because experience teaches us that horrible things have been done throughout history by those with power. I also have a skeptical attitude because I've personally seen what happens to everyday people when they are given uncontrolled or poorly controlled power.

And no, your trust is not "reasonable," especially when you factor in that those you trust have been either deceptive or incompetent, or both.

And at least I can logically support the conclusions I "leap to." Can you support your "trust" with more than empty conclusions?

Just so I'll know:

Does the tooth fairy still visit your house?

Are you still up waiting to see Santa on the eve of Christmas?

Does the Easter Bunny color all your eggs?

Do American soldiers always maintain the highest moral standards in warfare?

Are our political leaders invariably persons of such character that they will not be corrupted by money or the lure of power, and are they so smart they'll never act incompetently.

If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, don't take yourself too seriously. If you answered no to all of these questions, then you've already learned something in life.

But of course it WOULD be nice if the answer to all of those questions was "yes."
